Large Baccarat Liqueur Cabinet With Boulle Marquetry, Napoleon III Style
DESCRIPTION / Large and rare liqueur cabinet, blackened finish with Boulle-style marquetry featuring brass trim and inlays of brass, red tortoiseshell, and mother-of-pearl. Gilded bronze ornamentation with ingot-shaped accents and side handles.
Opens to reveal a compartmentalized mahogany interior containing 16 glasses and 4 Baccarat crystal decanters with gilding: please note a small chip on the neck of one of the decanters (photo), and the glassware is uniform but consists of two different models - 11 “Constellation” and 5 “Floral”
The opening mechanism does not use a traditional compass hinge because the lid is too heavy; you can leave it open using the pivot, but I recommend either displaying it closed or with the lid removed, as shown in the photos.
