18th-century Castelli Majolica Plaque
Maiolica plaque from the Castelli manufactory, dating to the first half of the 18th century.
It depicts the moment of the Creation of Adam, from the Book of Genesis. The elderly, bearded figure on the left, wearing ochre and blue robes, represents the Creator and extends his arm toward the man. This figure is Adam, depicted as a naked youth—partially concealed by tree foliage—extending his left hand toward the Lord in a gesture of submission.
Excellent condition; recently framed.
