A figurative expressionist painter who at times bordered on abstraction
First solo exhibition in 1934 in Paris
Until 1939, he served as artistic director of the Palm Beach Casino in Cannes, where he decorated the grand galas
He was also a fresco painter
In 1946, he exhibited at MAEGHT in Paris, then left for America
In 1957, he held an exhibition at the Galerie Vendôme in Paris, where the catalog featured a foreword by Jean Cocteau, who would become his friend and with whom he collaborated on the decoration of the Saint-Pierre Chapel in Villefranche-sur-Mer
This was followed by a series of exhibitions in Brussels, Montreal, Puerto Rico, Miami, Dallas, etc.
He designed 25 stamps for the Venezuelan postal service and enjoyed great success in Caracas; and was named an Honorary Citizen of New Orleans
The Merenciano Gallery in Marseille hosted several exhibitions by this great artist, as did the Katia Granoff Gallery
