Claude Venard, born on March 21, 1913, in Paris and died on December 30, 1999, in Sanary-sur-Mer, was a French painter associated with the Post-Cubist movement.
Having decided at the age of seventeen to devote himself to painting, he enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, but after “trying out” the school’s curriculum, he “ran away after forty-eight hours,” opting instead for training at the School of Applied Arts, which he attended diligently for six years.
Remaining faithful to a post-Cubist composition of his pictorial space, he gradually intensified the chromaticism of his palette, moving toward the richest tones, always rendered with a rich and creamy texture.Oil on paper mounted on canvas, signed. Certificate of authenticity.
