Bernardaud Limoges “red Berries” Set By Jean-claude Chauray, 7 Pieces
A beautiful Limoges porcelain set produced by Bernardaud, based on the original works of painter Jean-Claude Chauray.
It includes a large round serving platter and six dessert plates, each pair adorned with a different still life featuring red fruits: strawberries, cherries, fruits in bowls, books, and tableware. The design, with its luminous realism, stands out against a deep black background, framed by a tortoiseshell-style frieze and a silvery-gray beaded border.
Each piece bears the following printed mark on the reverse: “Excerpt from the original work by Jean-Claude Chauray for Bernardaud Limoges France,” along with the title of the depicted design and a reproduction of the artist’s signature.
The set is remarkable for the variety of its compositions and its beautiful decorative effect. It can be displayed on the table, on a wall, or in a display case.
Composition: one serving platter and six dessert plates.
Dimensions: platter 36 cm, plates 19,3cm in diameter.
Condition: overall in good condition. One plate has a small chip in the enamel. The large platter has some normal wear and tear as well as a few chips in the enamel along the rim. These imperfections are visible in the photographs and factored into the price. They do not detract from the decorative quality of this set, which remains very beautiful, elegant, and rare.
