Louis Marius Gueit (1877–1956) was a painter from Bordeaux and a student of Louis Cabié. He began his career as a decorative painter, a path that introduced him to composition as well as techniques involving texture and material effects. Following in the footsteps of Louis Auguste Auguin, Marius Gueit soon established himself as a renowned landscape painter. He traveled extensively throughout the Arcachon Basin, the Landes de Gascogne, and the Basque Country. Possessing a keen eye, Gueit knew how to capture his emotional response to nature in his compositions, skillfully handling impasto, light, and shadow. He exhibited regularly at the Société des Amis des Arts in Bordeaux, the Salon des Artistes Français, and exhibitions
