Carved and giltwood frame of Venetian production, datable to the early 20th century. The moulded profile features a beaded and egg-and-dart inner edge, surmounted by a continuous band of acanthus leaves and flowering scrolls running along the entire perimeter. The corners are enriched with scrolling cartouches centred on a stylised shell motif, while the middle of each side displays an oval cartouche with a small floral device. The overall design reflects the Venetian Rococo taste, typical of high quality Venetian frame production intended for important paintings.
