English Armchair In Solid Mahogany, Late 19th Century (circa 1880–1900)

English armchair in solid mahogany, late 19th century (circa 1880–1900)

Elegant late Victorian English armchair, crafted from fine solid mahogany with a splendid antique patina. The piece is distinguished by its classic late 19th-century British design, featuring soft lines and refined neoclassical details.

The backrest has an ovoid medallion shape with a scroll-carved frame and an openwork central motif; the wide, curved armrests end in elegant carved scrolls, while the seat is generously padded and upholstered in light blue velvet with capitonné quilting (French button tufting), edged with coordinating trim.

The frame rests on four elegant, finely turned and carved cabriole front legs, joined by crossbars and ending in original brass casters, typical of period parlor armchairs. The mahogany wood displays a warm reddish-brown hue with deep grain, a hallmark of a superior-quality piece of furniture.

In excellent condition, with recent upholstery in a superb velvety fabric. A piece of great charm and versatility, ideal for classic living rooms, studies, or Art Nouveau-Victorian style interiors.
