After receiving advice from Paul Meslé, a local painter, he attended classes at the Académie Ranson (1917–1919) in Paris. Along with Roland Oudot, Maurice Brianchon, Christian Caillard, Roger Limouse, and Raymond Legueult, he formed the group known as the Painters of Poetic Reality. He was a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts (1960).
