Neo-grecian Gilt Bronze And Champlevé Enamel Clock Garniture By F. Barbedienne
Important Neo-Grecian gilt bronze and polychrome champlevé enamel mantel clock garniture, comprising a clock and a pair of candelabra.
The clock rests on a richly ornamented base decorated with palmettes, scrolling foliage and vegetal motifs, enhanced with high-relief mascarons depicting bearded men. It is surmounted by an antique-style urn, also decorated with enamel.
Polychrome enamel dial, movement signed Ed. Minart. The ensemble is attributed to Ferdinand Barbedienne. Napoleon III period, circa 1860–1870.
