Antique Louis XV-style Mirror Made Of Wood Gilded With Gold.
Hello, today I’d like to show you a Louis XV-style mirror from the early 18th century.
At the top, a symmetrical shell and leaves form the pediment. On either side, the volute-shaped side posts are openwork, revealing mirrors in all four corners; at the bottom, the crossbar is also carved with a seashell motif in the center and laurel leaves, as on the remaining three parts of the frame.
The mercury-coated mirror is original, though slightly clouded.
The back is made of thin planks, some of which are original.
