The stag stands on a naturalistic pedestal mimicking a rocky escarpment and adorned with plant motifs.
On the reverse, the base features a relief medallion adorned with two crossed flags set against a rising sun.

Émile Grégoire (1871–1948) was a French sculptor whose career dates back to the late 19th century. He was a laureate of the Salon des Artistes Français and received an honorable mention in 1901. His body of work includes figurative, allegorical, and animal subjects, executed in bronze or produced in art metal. Several of his compositions regularly appear on the art market, including *The Archer*, *The Myth of Sisyphus*, and various animal subjects.
