Jacob Masen (Latinized as Masenius), born in 1606 in Rheindahlen (in the Cologne region) and died in 1681 in Cologne, was a German Jesuit priest, historian, playwright, and theologian. This text is a eulogy for Emperor Charles V. The author published numerous theological works that are now forgotten but which, at the time, sparked many disputes with Protestant theologians.
