Hercules And The Centaur – Bronze By Augusto Rivalta (1895) On A Green Marble Column
Important patinated bronze sculptural group depicting the myth of Hercules and the Centaur, a work by the celebrated Italian sculptor Augusto Rivalta (1837–1925). The bronze is distinguished by its strong dynamism, excellent anatomical rendering, and beautiful original dark patina.
It is signed and dated 1895 on the base.
The artwork rests on an octagonal base made of precious Portoro marble and is presented on its coeval column in finely turned green Serpentine marble from Prato. A ensemble of great decorative impact and high prestige, in excellent condition of preservation.
The object was awarded a prize, as shown in the photos.
There are minor, repairable chips on the serpentine column.
