A completely nude nymph, seated in a three-quarter profile on a steep, naturalistic rock ledge, holding an unfurled sheet of music in her hands.

Her face is turned toward the sky, her mouth slightly parted in a moment of lyrical expression, capturing the instant of song.

Georges Ernest Saulo - (1865–1945) was a French sculptor and medalist renowned for his monumental works, busts, and bronze statuettes. Born on September 16, 1865, in Angers, he died in Paris on January 28, 1945. Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Angers, he later enrolled at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, studying in the studio of Pierre Jules Cavelier and Louis Roubaud. In 1888, he became a member of the Société des Artistes Français. His talent was recognized on several occasions at the art salons:

Silver medal at the 1899 World’s Fair

Major works:

The equestrian statue of King Rama V (Chulalongkorn) in Bangkok (1907): Commissioned directly by the King of Siam following his visit to Versailles, this monumental work stands on the grand esplanade of the Parliament building in Bangkok.
The War Memorial in Château-Gontier (1922).
The gilded bronze pediment on the façade of the Joseph-Denais Museum in Beaufort-en-Anjou.
Several busts housed at the Angers Museum of Fine Arts, notably the Portrait of a Child and the bust of Alexandre Boreau at the city’s Jardin des Plantes.
