Large Chair In Cherry And Walnut, Asian Style – Early 20th Century

This large, slender, and refined chair, crafted from cherry and walnut, exudes a sculptural presence while retaining a remarkable delicacy. Its vertical silhouette rises with confidence, supported by a finely crafted base, while the fruitwood surfaces reveal a warm and nuanced grain, where the cherry wood interacts with the depth of the walnut.
Each side is enlivened by painted botanical scenes, rendered in an Asian style: supple branches, stylized foliage, delicate birds, and flowers seem to unfold like a small, contemplative garden.
The spacer shelves create a play of volumes that lightens the structure while providing display spaces. The denser base anchors the whole in a traditional aesthetic where nature, material, and artisanal craftsmanship harmonize.
