Hunting Spoon

Artist: Ludwig Neresheimer
Late 19th-century solid silver hunting spoon. At the top of this spoon are deer antlers framing Christ on the cross (corresponding to the legend of Saint Hubert).
The handle is shaped like a complete bow with a twisted string and a trigger. The bow is engraved and ends in two small tenons on the right and left. The spoon bowl is oval and deep, engraved with stylized motifs. Its back is engraved with a coat of arms featuring an arrow.  This escutcheon is surmounted by a knight’s helmet crowned with a crown, from which three arrows emerge.
The spoon bowl is connected to the handle by a joint featuring three balls, which are one of the silversmith’s signatures.
