18th-century Solid Silver Crown Of The Virgin

18th-Century Solid Silver Virgin Crown

These crowns, designed to enhance the beauty of delicate carved wooden virgins, are generally made of very lightweight repoussé silver sheet.
The one we are presenting here is made of cast and chiseled silver, of unusual quality and weight.
It bears no hallmarks but is engraved with the inscription “G: Lanoy 1739,” likely referring to an owner or donor.
