These silversalt cellars are one of the most important ancestral traditions in Russia. The form of
these objects represent the isba whose roof is represented by the back of the chair with a fluted edge and two openings identical to the windows. A star adorns the wall of the chair while a rooster adorns the other wall. The seat has a small flap with hinge to allow access to a vermeil container. A proverb "without salt, without bread, no meal" is engraved on the flap
