19th-century Prison Door, Black Lacquered, With A Door

PTC023 - An imposing and authentic 19th-century prison door, made entirely of solid wood reinforced with wrought-iron elements.
The surface is finished with a matte black lacquer, which enhances its austere and monumental character while preserving the patina of age.
The structure consists of sturdy horizontal planks, marked by dense, exposed metal nailing—typical of prison doors from that era—designed to ensure maximum strength and security. In the center is the classic inspection hatch with its original latch, used to monitor inmates, perfectly consistent with the artifact’s historical use.
The locking system is complete and impressive: iron locking bars, massive hinges, and original brackets and levers, with authentic signs of wear that tell the story of the object’s long life. Every detail—from the natural oxidation of the metal to the irregularities of the wood—contributes to its strong aesthetic and narrative value.
19th century. Opens by pulling to the right.
Iron back panel.
