A student of Léon Cogniet, Julien Gustave Gagliardini (1846–1927) began his career painting genre scenes before turning his attention to landscapes of southern France and the Mediterranean starting in the 1880s. Nicknamed the “painter of the sun,” he received numerous official awards (including a gold medal at the 1900 World’s Fair).
The paint layer is in good condition. Please note that the frame has some damage at the corners.
