Pair Of Patinated And Gilded Bronze Candlesticks, Louis XV Rocaille Style – 19th Century
Pair of candlesticks in patinated bronze and gilded bronze, in the Louis XV Rocaille style, dating from the 19th century.
Each candlestick features a bronze putto with a brown patina, depicted in a different pose and supporting a leafy branch in gilded bronze that ends in a large, flower-shaped candlestick head.
The bases, which are particularly intricately crafted, feature a rich Rocaille decoration of openwork volutes, shells, flowers, foliage, and trellises, in the spirit of 18th-century designs.
