Travel chest made of wood and studded brass – Key lock – 19th century

A very beautiful antique travel chest made of solid wood, featuring an elegant, warm patina and a remarkable decoration of brass bands punctuated by numerous domed nails.

The front is highlighted by a wide, studded brass frame, with elegantly cut corners.

In the center is a prominent brass lock plate, also studded and finished with a small decorative motif.

The edges and perimeter of the chest are reinforced with studded metal strips, a feature characteristic of chests formerly used for transporting and protecting personal belongings.

The lid opens to reveal an interior made entirely of wood, retaining its beautiful authenticity.

The chest features its antique lock and key, visible in the photographs.

The sides are also fitted with metal handles for easy transport.

The entire piece rests on four small ball feet.

The wood has a beautiful patina, with marks, scratches, and signs of wear that attest to its age and fully contribute to its charm.

A particularly decorative chest that can now be used as a storage chest, end table, or decorative piece in either a traditional or contemporary interior.
