The Bargueno or Vargueno.
A traditional Spanish writing desk typically dating from the 17th century.
In terms of structure, it consists of a solid walnut chest with a front flap that opens to form a desk.
The interior, featuring 12 drawers and two doors—one of which conceals a secret compartment—is adorned with wood carvings, geometric bone inlays, and iron hardware, including wrought-iron handles.
This cabinet rests on a table with lyre-shaped legs and a one-piece solid walnut top. The legs feature sculpted profiles in the Baroque style. In good overall condition, with some later restoration due to its age. Cabinet dimensions: W 89 cm - H 53 cm - D 49 cm
