In the subdued sanctuary of an apartment cluttered with sofas and perfumed with benzoin, the young Turk—his olive complexion seeming to exude the rich scent of cardamom and musk—performs a languid, clandestine dance, oscillating between brazen coquetry and pure introspection. With a feline, almost childlike gesture, he seizes a silver tulle veil and fastens it to his jet-black hair, letting the metallic sheen glide across his forehead like a cascade of moonlight over the Anatolian landscape. Amid the rustle of silk and the shimmer of embroidery, the metamorphosis is complete: in this orientalist masquerade of catamite and ephebe, Ganymede abdicates Olympus to return in spirit to the golden valleys of his native Phrygia, embodying a forbidden Hellenic beauty that burns with desire in the poetic salons of the interwar period.
