Swiss Exchange Table—late 17th Century
Table with an octagonal inlaid top topped with an octagonal marble slab. It has four turned baluster legs and an H-shaped crossbar.
The marquetry decoration is made of local woods (Alpine walnut, shaded walnut, beech, hornbeam, etc.) and primarily depicts heraldic lions.
Opens to reveal a wide front drawer.
Tables with very similar tops and no signatures were attributed to the famous cabinetmaker Thomas Hache in the late 20th century by auctioneers.
In excellent condition; a small spindle is missing from the pediment beneath the drawer.
