Marble Fountain With Dolphins, Louis XIV Period, End Of 17th Century
Stunning marble fountain backpiece decorated with two carved mustachioed dolphins.
Made of white Carrara marble, mounted on a gray marble slab.
Beautifully carved.
The tips of the tails are detached and would need to be reattached (see photo).
One of the two dolphins is slightly chipped at the bottom (near the mouth); we do not have this small missing piece.
Numerous limestone deposits where water flows; these dark areas could be easily removed.
Good condition for its age.
