Antique Mahogany Desk With Drawers, Restored In The 19th Century
Large Mahogany Paneled Desk – Restoration Period, 19th Century
A very beautiful and large mahogany paneled desk from the Restoration period, 19th century.
With its beautiful proportions, this desk features the understated and elegant design characteristic of the Restoration period. It rests on two substantial side cabinets and offers a very spacious work surface.
The front features nine drawers: three drawers beneath the top—including a wide central drawer—and three drawers stacked one above the other in each of the two side cabinets. They are adorned with drop-down brass handles.
The tabletop, broadly framed in mahogany, is upholstered in brown leather. A particularly appreciated feature is that the desk has two side pull-outs, also upholstered in leather and retractable beneath the tabletop, which significantly increase the work surface.
The molded drawer fronts, the rounded corners of the side sections, and the fine quality of the mahogany lend this piece a great deal of elegance.
The back is fully paneled and intricately carved, allowing this desk to be placed against a wall or as a freestanding piece in the center of a library, study, or large living room.
A striking desk, both decorative and highly functional, offering ample storage space.
