A fragment of white marble depicting two dolphins facing each other.
Only the head of the left-hand dolphin remains, including the animal’s eye and beak. Its counterpart on the right is complete from the beak to the three-part tail and forms a beautiful ovoid curve.
The base of this unusual fragment is smooth. Is it the base of a capital? Or part of a fountain? A fragment of a Roman maritime sculpture similar to those found at the Forum Julii near Fréjus?
