"affolé" Floor Lamp By Patrice Gruffaz, Produced By Lieux En Métal; 20th-century Forged Metal Lamp
"Affolé" floor lamp, created by French designer Patrice Gruffaz for the Lieux design house, circa the early 1990s.
A true light sculpture crafted from matte black wrought metal, this fixture stands out for its long, airy stem shaped into a dynamic helical coil, creating an impression of free movement and absolute lightness that is very real: The lamp begins to sway with the slightest breeze, oscillating gently.
The square black metal base ensures perfect stability for the entire piece and bears the artist-publisher’s authentic stamped signature, a guarantee of its authenticity.
The lampshade lends the piece a striking visual presence and a highly graphic contrast in light. It is made of a translucent synthetic material that is smooth on the inside and has a fine grain texture on the outside.
In good overall condition with some superficial signs of oxidation on the base (see photo); the electrical system is fully functional.
