Centerpiece In Gilt Bronze And Canton Porcelain, China, 19th Century
A late 19th-century French decorative plate, made of Chinese export porcelain from Canton, in the famille rose style, mounted on a finely crafted gilt-bronze foot. The porcelain portion is decorated with hand-painted polychrome enamels depicting figurative scenes of palace life, birds, and flowering plants. These compositions are surrounded by delicate vegetal motifs, dominated by green, pink, and gold tones. The rim of the plate is highlighted with a gilt-bronze border adorned with a pearl. Two handles with geometric motifs are attached to the sides. The plate rests on a profiled gilt-bronze foot decorated with stylized leaves and small relief ornaments.
