Ernest François Ventrillon came from a family of artists; his brothers, Georges and Gaston Ventrillon, were also painters.
Self-taught, he maintained ties with Victor Prouvé and Eugène Vallin and drew inspiration from the works of Cézanne, particularly for his still lifes. His first exhibition took place in Nancy in 1911, where he presented floral paintings, still lifes, and landscapes depicting Lorraine, the French Riviera, and the Paris region. He also created designs for furniture and vases for Magasins Réunis and exhibited in Paris in 1930.
