Large ceremonial Qanat tent panel with polylobed mihrab niche and teardrop boteh decoration in fine bafta cotton fabric, entirely hand-painted with a reed pen (kalamkari).
Fast natural dyes in madder red, indigo blue, and iron black with alum mordant.
Saturated composition with a network of foliage scrolls and a frieze of slender merlons.
Original glazed and satin sheen finish preserved through traditional shell-burnishing (chintzing).
Handling slips and minor accidental dye spots made by the painter, testifying to entirely handcrafted workmanship.
Period lining in block-printed Indian cotton with a sprigged floral pattern and chevron borders.
