He trained at the Accademia Albertina in Turin as a student of Cesare Gamba and Carlo Arienti. He exhibited in 1874 at the Paris Salon and at various Venice Biennales. Initially a painter of historical scenes, he increasingly devoted himself to landscapes painted en plein air. His works are held in many Piedmontese collections.
