Vintage Murano “birillo” Lamp
With its sculptural silhouette and generous proportions, the Birillo looks as if it came straight out of a futuristic 1970s interior. This glass lamp plays on the balance between two organic shapes: a voluptuous base in a sunny, almost liquid yellow, topped by a white opaline globe with soft curves.
Between the two, a metal ring emphasizes its Space Age character, blending the industrial coolness of metal with the sensuality of glass. Once lit, the Birillo does more than just provide light: it becomes a presence in its own right, diffusing a soft glow while its colorful base seems to glow from within.
Halfway between a functional object, a light sculpture, and a pop icon, the Birillo celebrates an era when design dreamed of the future with optimism, boldness, and imagination. Its Italian-sounding name perfectly complements its playful and generous lines, like a precious object from a future imagined in the 1960s and 1970s.
Birillo, a sculpture of glass and light, blending pop art’s softness with Space Age imagination.
