Measuring 27 cm x 20.5 cm unframed, 30 cm x 24 cm overall.
Depicting a Bacchanal of Putti in a Landscape, a Neoclassical scene of Abundance painted around 1800.
This wood panel is in very good condition.
The painting has never been cleaned; it is dirty and in its strictly original condition, showing visible cracks resulting from the shrinking bitumen ground.
This is a common issue with certain paintings from this period.
Sold with a carved wooden frame from 1920 in good condition. I think it looks better without it!
