Signed upper right, countersigned on the back.

Emile Valentin Cardinal was a French painter who made his mark on the artistic landscape of his time.
His father, Joseph Gustave Cardinal, was a renowned painter, and his mother, Marie Louise Blanche Auger, was the older sister of the writer and poet Félix Lionnet.
Emile Valentin Cardinal settled in Paris in 1933. Between 1920 and 1932, he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon de la Nationale.
