Pair Of Crystal And Gilded Bronze Vases, Louis XVI Style, Late 19th Century
Pair of square-section crystal vases, adorned with a rich, finely chiseled and gilded bronze mount, in the Louis XVI style, dating from the late 19th century.
The transparent crystal bodies, quadrangular in shape and elegantly proportioned, are set within a substantial gilded bronze mount. The upper section is adorned with an openwork design of great finesse, composed of intertwined ribbons, foliage scrolls, flowers, and neoclassical motifs arranged in perfect symmetry.
On the front of each vase stands an elegant female figure in gilded bronze, depicted kneeling and holding a garland of flowers. She is accompanied by delicately chiseled plant and floral motifs, resting on an ornate pedestal.
The bases, also in gilded bronze, feature the same design of intertwined ribbons and openwork circular motifs, forming a composition that is perfectly balanced with the upper section.
The combination of clear crystal and the rich gilding of the bronze creates a particularly refined contrast. The quality of the engraving, the symmetry of the decoration, and the ornamental repertoire inspired by the Louis XVI style reflect the neoclassical taste that was particularly popular in the late 19th century.
This elegant pair, designed as a set, displays remarkable decorative quality and stands out for the delicacy of its gilded bronze decoration and the transparency of its crystal bodies.
