Description
A superb mirror featuring the dynamic lines typical of the Second Empire, adorned with a refined design of acanthus leaves, volutes, and rocaille shells, inspired by the Louis XV style and reinterpreted with the decorative opulence characteristic of the 19th century.
The original gilding, in very good condition, enhances the relief of the decoration and lends the piece an elegant luminosity. The openwork pediment, of great finesse, perfectly illustrates the balance between opulence and refinement characteristic of the decorative taste of Napoleon III’s reign.
This type of mirror once adorned bourgeois salons and private mansions in the second half of the 19th century, bringing brilliance and depth to interiors.
The slightly beveled mirror glass attests to high-quality artisanal craftsmanship.
