Pierre Montheillet (1923–2011) was a painter, a world-renowned expert on Lyon-style painting (Court of Appeals and Customs), and an art dealer. He developed his pictorial style within the realm of lyrical landscape abstraction.
He studied at the University of Lyon and lived and painted in Lyon. He began exhibiting between 1939—when, at age 16, he showed at the Salon d’Automne in Lyon—and 1945. He exhibited in Lyon, notably at the Galerie Saint-Georges, the Galerie Folklore, and Le Lutrin; in Paris, at the Galerie Colette Allendy and the Galerie La Roue; in Vence; in Neuchâtel; and elsewhere. He participated notably in the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles starting in 1948, the Salon de Mai from 1951 to 1955, Comparaisons from 1957 to 1964, and the exhibition 50 Years of Abstract Art.
