Art Nouveau Sideboard In Ash And Maple With Beveled Mirrors, Italy, Early 20th Century
Art Nouveau sideboard in ash and maple, attributed to Ernesto Basile and produced by the Grandiosi Magazzini Emporio Roma in Palermo, dating from the early 20th century. The piece features a central beveled mirror, surmounted by three smaller, also beveled mirrors, and an openwork cornice. The base features a pair of central glass-paned doors, flanked by side posts with a drawer beneath the top, a glass-paned door, and two additional drawers below. A back panel with a shelf and molded shelf supports is topped by an openwork and carved decoration, which serves as a buttress for the central mirror. Elegant painted floral decorations adorn the front panels and drawers, while metal handles complete the design. Some glass panes are missing.
