A magnificent Napoleon III-era game table

Stamped "DIELH Charles Guillaume 1811/1885" on the top of the drawer.
A renowned 19th-century designer of luxury furniture and cabinets adorned with bronze fittings.
Born in Germany, he settled in Paris around 1840 at 39 Rue St. Sébastien. 

Made of Macassar ebony veneer (a rare exotic wood from Asia), with beautiful grain ranging from deep black to dark brown,
stunning in daylight. 

Its four sides are curved and adorned with chiseled bronze and brass forming arabesques, foliage, and volutes executed with great finesse.

Beautiful mascarons on the top and back

A chiseled bronze band with an oves motif opens onto a green felt game tray.

Four bronze “children’s busts” signed LECOQ.
Finished with a buffed varnish
In perfect condition (just came from the cabinetmaker trained at the École Boulle).
