Pair Of Roman Side Mirrors, 18th Century
A pair of Roman-style small mirrors dating to the early decades of the 18th century, made of carved and gilded/silvered wood. The crown is embellished with a gilded metal cartouche depicting a mask, which indicates that the mirrors originated in central Italy, specifically Rome. The inner edges feature a twisted band and a beaded molding, while the corners are adorned with leaf motifs in bronze-colored relief. The flat panels of the frame reveal mirror surfaces worn by time, offering a glimpse of the bolo ground beneath.
