Collection Of 8 Relics/reliquaries - 19th/20th Century
A beautiful set of eight small devotional reliquaries, dating primarily from the 19th and 20th centuries, displayed in circular metal cases and protected behind glass.
Each reliquary contains a carefully crafted composition on a gold-colored fabric background, adorned with cut-out and polychrome paper, religious motifs, and small relics accompanied by their handwritten or printed labels. Several bear the name of the saint to whom the relic is attributed, notably St. Catherine, St. Anthony of Padua, and St. Joseph, while one piece features an image of St. Thérèse of Lisieux.
The reverse sides are particularly interesting: several retain their ecclesiastical wax seals, sometimes accompanied by inscriptions and old numbers, attesting to their devotional nature and traditional closure.
A decorative collection steeped in history, bearing witness to the Catholic tradition of venerating and preserving relics, which was particularly widespread in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
