A Significant Ceramic Chess Set From The 1960s And Its Game Board
A lovely set featuring a large ceramic chess set from the 1960s and a beautiful Art Deco-style game table.
The 32 pieces in this set feature figures inspired by Roman and Mediterranean antiquity, crafted from ceramic with a lovely golden-brown glaze. The pieces are quite large, larger than the usual average.
Made in southern France or Italy around 1960; traces of a signature on some pieces. The set is in perfect condition.
The Art Deco-style game table is made of rosewood veneer with a high-quality varnish finish; the tabletop is removable and lined with felt on the underside (showing some wear) for playing cards. This table can be sold separately from the pieces.
