Important bust of Marshal Ferdinand FOCH (1851–1929) inmilitary uniform, with his epaulets bearing the seven stars of a Marshal andhis medals, such as the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor and variousmilitary medals.
A rare version based on the bust created by Auguste Maillardfor the École Polytechnique (from which Foch graduated); the original is on display atthe École Polytechnique Museum (Mus’X) in Palaiseau.
Signed “X51” on the reverse (X for the École Polytechnique and 51probably for the Marshal’s year of birth)
Very good condition, slight patina from age, no chips or cracks.
