A rare 19th-century set of harpoons or “foênes.” This set of eight “foênes,” which cannot be separated, is mounted on a base; it has a very attractive patina and is highly decorative. Some models with multiple prongs are rare, while others with two prongs—used for catching eels—are more “common.”
These foênes are harpoons mounted on a wooden shaft and ending in several pointed and/or barbed prongs; some are used for spearfishing, while others are used for shore fishing.
