Pair Of Art Nouveau-style Chairs, Nancy School, 1900
Pair of Art Nouveau-era chairs, Nancy School, 1900
They feature tall, molded and carved wooden backs, adorned with a remarkable stylized floral motif with long, sinuous lines, characteristic of the naturalistic vocabulary of Art Nouveau. The highly vertical design of the backs gives the set a particularly decorative silhouette.
The seats are upholstered with woven straw, while the turned legs are joined by crossbars. The wood has a beautiful antique patina.
A few marks and signs of wear are visible, particularly on the reverse of the backrests, consistent with the age of the chairs.
An original and decorative design, representative of the formal explorations of Art Nouveau around 1900.
