Gallé Vase, Rio De Janeiro - Botafogo Beach And Corcovado
Vase from the Etablissement Gallé “Landscapes” series—Rio de Janeiro, featuring a rotating design engraved in deep acid-etched recesses, depicting trees and palm trees in the foreground and a panoramic view of Botafogo Beach Bay. The decoration is rich in detail, including the Church of the Immaculate Conception, founded in 1854 by Emperor Dom Pedro II, with Morro do Corcovado in the background. Signed “Gallé” within the decoration.
These decors, specifically composed of tropical landscapes inspired by the city of Rio, are very rare in the collection and are limited to half a dozen different designs for an estimated production of 200 vases.
