Mounted 19th-century Sculptural Element.
Description:
Heavy white metal, perhaps silver?
This statue is one of the Marly horses by the sculptor Coustou (1677–1746).
It was damaged during a bombing raid (1870; 1914, 18)as happened to many other objects.
Having been left abandoned and unprotected, this statue has developeda patina typical of an antique.
Wetherefore decided to bring it back to life in a museum-style setting, on aturned wooden base that allows it to be positioned in various poses and to rotate..
